Game 1

Lapeer falls to Flushing despite strong effort from Hind

Wyatt Hind collected three hits in four at bats, but Lapeer lost to Flushing 13-8 on Thursday at CFI.

Hind doubled in the fifth inning, singled in the third inning, and singled in the sixth inning.

Lapeer lost despite out-hitting Flushing 9-7.

Flushing opened the scoring in the top of the first thanks to two singles. Flushing first got on the board when Blake Badal singled, scoring one run.

Lapeer tied the game up 4-4 in the bottom of the first thanks to two doubles, one by Carson Olejniczak.

An error gave Lapeer the lead, 5-4, in the bottom of the third.

Lapeer committed an error, which helped Flushing tie the game at five in the top of the fourth.

In the top of the fifth, Flushing broke up the tie when Blake Willette singled, scoring two runs. Then a wild pitch followed to extend the lead to 8-5.

Flushing scored five runs on one hit in the top of the seventh inning. An error scored one run, and Blake Badal hit a grand slam to center field.

Lapeer scored one run in the bottom of the seventh on a solo home run to center field by Kingston Hogan.

Badal earned the win for the Raiders. The right-handed pitcher allowed six hits and seven runs (six earned) over four and one-third innings, striking out four and walking five. Keenan Hillier pitched three innings in relief for Lapeer. The reliever gave up two hits and five runs (zero earned) while, striking out five and walking two. Cameron Vanecek started the game for Lapeer. The pitcher gave up two hits and four runs (three earned) over two innings, striking out four and walking three.

Lapeer amassed nine hits in the game. Olejniczak led Lapeer with three runs batted in from the number seven spot in the lineup. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Hind stole three bases. Lapeer had patience at the plate, piling up seven walks for the game.

Badal drove the middle of the lineup, leading Flushing with five runs batted in. The 3-hole hitter went 2-for-5 on the day. Badal, Kayden Tinnin, and Willette each collected two hits for Flushing. The Raiders had patience at the plate, accumulating eight walks for the game. Evan Badal and Ethan LeCureux led the team with two free passes each. LeCureux also stole two bases.

Game 2

Strong hitting not enough as Lightning falls to Flushing

Even though Lapeer collected seven hits to Flushing's four, they still fell 6-3 on Thursday.

Dane Brazelton led Lapeer with two hits.

Lapeer was first to get on the board in the first when Wyatt Hind singled, scoring one run.

Flushing captured the lead, 3-1, in the top of the second when Aiden Covill doubled, scoring two runs, and an error scored one run.

A fielder's choice by Kayden Tinnin extended the Flushing lead to 4-1 in the top of the third inning.

Evan Badal earned the win for the Raiders. The starter surrendered six hits and two runs (zero earned) over four innings, striking out one and walking one. Cayden Newberry took the loss for Lapeer. The hurler went four and one-third innings, giving up six runs (five earned) on four hits, striking out four and walking six.

Hind and Kingston Hogan each drove in one run for Lapeer. The Lightning also turned one double play in the game.

Covill led Flushing with two runs batted in from the number eight spot in the lineup. The infielder went 1-for-2 on the day. Evan Badal, Blake Badal, Covill, and Blake Willette each collected one hit for Flushing.

The Raiders had a strong eye at the plate, collecting six walks for the game. Flushing stole four bases in the game and turned one double play.

Next up for Lapeer is a game at Clio on Saturday.

Lapeer surges past Clio thanks to big fifth 

Lapeer scored six runs in the fifth inning, which helped them defeat Clio 10-1 on Saturday at Davison High School. 

Dane Brazelton singled, scoring one run, Bryce Johnson singled, scoring one run, Lucas Mauk singled, scoring one run, Wyatt Hind singled, scoring one run, and Kingston Hogan doubled, scoring two runs.

Lapeer got on the board in the second inning after Cayden Newberry doubled, scoring two runs.

Mauk earned the win for Lapeer, surrendering zero hits and zero runs over four and one-third innings, striking out seven and walking five.

Gage Benner stepped on the bump first for Clio, giving up two hits and two runs (one earned) over two innings, striking out one and walking none.

Chase Terhlen appeared in relief for Lapeer.

Lapeer amassed 13 hits in the game. Johnson, Wyatt Hind, Cayden Newberry, Kody Walton, and Brazelton each collected two hits. Johnson, Newberry, and Hogan each drove in two runs for Lapeer.

Brazelton stole two bases as the Lightning stole six bases in the game.

Harper Wozniak led Clio with one run batted in, going 1-for-3 on the day. Wozniak and Benner each collected one hit for the Mustangs.

Lapeer plays at home on Monday against Davison in their next game.
