Dear Rolland-Warner Students and Families,
I hope all of you have enjoyed your summers so far! I have had fun spending time with my own family during the past few months. Many of us are back at Rolland-Warner, getting ready to welcome back our 6th 7th and 8th grade students, teachers, and other staff in just a few weeks. The custodians are busy waxing the floors, doing repairs, and making sure the building is in tip top shape to welcome everyone back. Some of the teachers have been in to school writing plans for math and English and making sure they are completely ready to teach our students in the best ways possible. Mrs. Hart, our head secretary is back in the office, and we will open the office doors on Monday, August 13th. Mr. Strump and I are very busy making plans for our school, our teachers, and our students as we embark on our third year of existence as Rolland-Warner Middle School.
This is a very exciting time for me to think about what lies ahead. Our goals for the school year are as follows:
• to increase reading abilities for all of our students
• to increase understanding of math concepts
• and to make our overall school climate more positive
We also have a new schedule for this school year, where students will attend just six classes per day to provide more time in each class. You can find the daily schedule attached to the website. Students will also have the opportunity to be a part of an I-Connect class where they will make a connection with their adult leader and the 20 or so other students in the group. They will learn the traits of our school statement, “Leading the Pack” through various activities when they meet twice a week for about 25 minutes.
Parents, we have some special events planned for you, too, and you can read about them in our August newsletter. We will have Coffee with the Principals meetings the third Tuesday of each month as well as Parent Teacher Committee meetings and events. We would love to have more parents involved in making Rolland-Warner a world-class middle school!
