LOC Parent Meeting

Any parent interested in obtaining more information on LOC or meeting the chaperones should attend the Parent Meeting on Thursday, April 26th from 6-6:30.  Please bring any medication/medication forms for the trip and you can be assured that we have them for the trip.  Remember that prescribed medication requires a doctor's signature, so if your child gets ill before the trip go to the Student Council Blog at  http://rwstudentcouncil.blogspot.com/p/leelanau-outdoor-center.html and print the appropriate medication form to take with you to the doctors to avoid a return visit!
Please remember all forms and money is due on April 13.  We still in need of a female chaperone and possibly a male chaperone.  We still have about 6 spots open for 6th or 7th graders that are in or interested in Student Council.  Please pass this on to students/parents that have children with characteristics we are looking for in Student Council members.

Welcome!

RW Student Council is 30 plus members strong with our officers being:  President Tim Carey, Secretary Claire Stewart, Vice President Natalie Fleming, and President Elect Ava Strasser.  Student council is planning many things, such as operating a school store, where we will sell a variety of things relevant to our school needs in our school store.  We also run penny wars.  The penny war is where teams compete by bombing each other’s jars to raise money for buying local families Christmas presents if they cannot afford them.  Save up your pennies!  The student council is going to be in charge of most of the school dances.  Our first dance will be the Christmas dance, date TBD.  As part of our service learning, our members go to a local soup kitchen in groups of 10-12 student council members.  We will be going to the soup kitchen on 3 different dates to help out with things like serving and cleaning. Claire Stewart and Taylor Blaine has been a big help with this project. The fall training institute is an institute for student council members to meet up in Frankenmuth to learn about leadership skills.  Student council is also sponsoring a Coat Drive.  The coat drive is organized for people to bring in coats, gloves, hats…etc. (gently used winter accessories) for people in need of them.
RW’s Student Council looks forward to making our school and community a better place!
